The Private LTE & 5G Networks Market - What's its Current Status?

As enterprises increasingly turn to dedicated cellular connectivity to power their operations, the private cellular networks market is gaining significant momentum. Adoption is strongest where organisations need greater control over network performance, security and data management, capabilities that conventional public mobile networks, or that Wi-Fi alone cannot deliver.

The market is also becoming increasingly diverse. While private 4G/LTE remains a reliable choice for many enterprise applications, the growing adoption of private 5G is opening the door to more demanding use cases that require low latency, higher device density, advanced traffic management, and greater automation. As a result, private cellular network development is unlikely to follow a simple replacement cycle.

But greater market maturity doesn’t mean simpler deployment. Implementing a private cellular network remains more complex than installing a conventional enterprise connectivity solution.

The infographic, which is split into eight subcontinents, highlights the number of businesses deploying private LTE and 5G networks across the world. The graph shows that businesses operating in the Far East and China currently have the highest adoption of private cellular networks, followed closely by North America.

Businesses in Central and East Europe have the lowest level of private cellular network adoption, while companies in Africa and the Middle East are not far behind.

However, private cellular networks will not develop as one globally uniform market. We predict global private cellular network adoption will increase gradually.
