The cost of AIT (Artificially Inflated Traffic) and SMS fraud to enterprises is projected to significantly decrease over the next five years, with Juniper Research predicting a major drop in these expenses by the end of the forecast period.

Although individual losses per fraudulent SMS are low, the cumulative impact of AIT on enterprises is substantial due to the high volume of attacks. Fraudsters are also leveraging AI to make these attacks more sophisticated, presenting ongoing challenges for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and businesses.

This expected decline in AIT costs is attributed to the improved ability of SMS firewalls to detect and block fraudulent messages, alongside growing collaboration among key stakeholders, including enterprises, MNOs, and messaging aggregators. By working together to identify AIT early in the message chain, these parties are better equipped to prevent fraud before it causes financial damage to businesses.
