Telco Insights - Market Pilot Scheme: Vodafone CallProtect to Tackle Spam Calls in Germany

RealNetworks, a developer of AI-based software solutions, has announced a partnership with Vodafone Germany to create a pilot programme for a service that can detect potential fraudulent scam traffic. The service will be called Vodafone CallProtect and will leverage RealNetworks’ KONTXT anti-spam solution for messaging and voice calls.

KONTXT is a suite of management tools for messaging and voice over operator networks, including networking auditing, spam and grey route detection. The service leverages machine learning to assess traffic over operator networks, evaluating over a billion datapoints, and also provides reporting capabilities. The service will match all incoming calls against a database to verify the originating number and whether it is a known spam caller or scam number. The service will then display information to the mobile subscriber on the identity of the caller, thus enabling them to decide on whether to take the call or not.
