Tech Insights - Peloton Sues Competitors Over Live Services Capabilities

November 2021
Sustainability & Smart Cities

On the 12th November, Peloton filed a lawsuit against fitness technology rivals iFIT and Echelon; claiming many of their products are in violation of its patent relating to on-demand fitness classes with live leaderboards. In addition to damages, Peloton is seeking an injunction to stop the use of the technology it claims violates its patents.

Peloton is claiming that none of its competitors offered these forms of services before Peloton’s products were available, and is seeking damages for multiple devices made by these companies. If successful, the case could have large impacts across the fitness device ecosystem.
