Hampshire, UK – 27th July 2026: A new study by global tech strategists Juniper Research has ranked Syniverse as the global leader in IP Exchange (IPX), followed closely by BICS and iBASIS.
Syniverse has built leadership in the market via its extensive IPX footprint and interconnect with mobile network operators around the world. Furthermore, the company has established itself as an early leader in key areas such as satellite interconnect and 5G Standalone (SA) roaming.

As part of the study, Juniper Research analysed and benchmarked the IPX offerings of 16 leading vendors. These providers were ranked against several criteria, including their IPX traffic, points of presence, and additional capabilities such as IPX analytics and 5G SA readiness.
The top five ranked IPX vendors all demonstrate their ability to deliver quality roaming services, with highly reliable and consistent interconnect between mobile networks, and early investment in 5G SA roaming enablement. The analysis identified that these strengths strategically position these leading companies to serve the needs of mobile network operators’ future roaming services and strategies.
The report found that whilst commercialisation of 5G SA is in its nascent stage, investing and preparing for 5G SA roaming is critical to future leadership in the IPX market. Success in 5G SA roaming will be defined by capabilities for low latency, as well as secure roaming connectivity and signalling, with leading IPX vendors already making strategic investments in areas such as Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP) and local and regional breakouts.
SEPP serves as the gateway for securing and managing 5G SA roaming signalling, whilst local and regional breakout reduces data session latency by enabling traffic to exit to the Internet closer to the visited network.
