In a report published by Bloomberg this week, it has emerged that Apple intends to drop Intel as a CPU supplier of its PCs as early as 2020. The company has been rumoured to have been developing its own processors, in similar fashion to the custom units it uses in its mobile devices.

On Thursday 1st March, the new KYC (Know Your Customer) regulations of the RBI (Reserve bank of India) came into force, requiring all wallet providers to ensure compliance of existing users.

Consumers who fail to complete KYC will only be permitted to keep up to ₹10,000 ($154) in their wallets; if these ‘minimum KYC’ wallets are not converted into ‘full KYC’ accounts within 12 months, no credit facility can be provided.

Intel have revealed a VR content development solution, titled Intel Arena Project. The project will enable developers to create large-scale detailed environments and has been set up in collaboration with Glimpse Group, an organisation comprised of AR and VR software providers.

The Intel Arena Project uses Datasmith, a workflow toolkit developed for Unreal Engine and Intel’s i9 processor released in July 2017. The project is currently only a ‘proof of concept’ for developers, however The Glimpse Group are releasing the software, along with accompanying documentation for the software, to the developers on a trial basis.

Softbank-owned ARM has launched 2 mobile AI (Artificial Intelligence) processor designs, it has been announced. The processors, ARM Machine Learning Processor and ARM Object Detection Processor aim to handle on-device general and image handling AI tasks respectively. The OD (Object Detection) processor will be available by the end of this month, with the ML (machine learning) processor available by the end of the year.

Garmin has announced that it has selected NXP’s PN80T embedded Secure Element and NFC solution to secure NFC mobile payments on its vivoactive 3 and Forerunner 645 Music wearable devices.

Launched in late 2017, the vivoactive 3 smartwatch was the first of Garmin’s devices to feature Garmin Pay, the company’s contactless POS (Point of Sale) solution. The company has partnered with Visa, Mastercard and American Express, together with a number of national and international banks, as it bids to compete both with smartphone-based solutions and with other wearable offerings in the still nascent sector, including that of the Apple Watch.

Juniper Insights: eBay Replaces PayPal as Payment Partner, Selects Dutch Start-up Adyen

eBay has signed an agreement with Adyen, a leading global payments processor, to become its primary payments processing partner, the company announced on 31st January.

In a press release, the company also added that PayPal will continue to be a payments option at checkout for buyers in the short term.
