Facebook have announced that they have enabled P2P (peer-to-peer) payments in group chats over Messenger. Since March 2015, the OTT (over-the-top) messaging application has enabled payments over one-toone conversations. At present the service is only available to Android and Desktop users in the US, however it is inevitable that the service will be rolled out to iOS users in the US imminently, before service launches occur in other regions.

The US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) has rejected the longstanding application by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss to launch an ETF (Exchange Traded Fund). The ETF would have traded on a US-based stock exchange and would have simplified the procedure for small traders to access the Bitcoin market through the purchase of shares.

Snap Inc, parent company of popular social media messaging application, Snapchat, has set its share value at $17 per share, creating the largest tech flotation since Facebook filed an IPO in 2011. In its first day of trading, the share price rose to a high of $25.99, closing the day at over $24, The company has seemingly been gearing up for the flotation since appointing IPO specialist Stan Meresman in May 2016, followed by a rebranding to Snap Inc. The company revealed annual revenues of over $400 million in 2016, whilst claiming over 155 million daily active users in Q4 of that year.

IBM has extended and relocated its IoT HQ to Munich, Germany, as well as announcing a string of partnerships with several companies and an IoT-focused summit to mark the opening. These include the presence of several product development facilities, to aid in the development of IoT products by IBM’s partners.
