US POS Market in 2022
The POS (Point of Sale) market has evolved significantly in recent years, with traditional static terminals increasingly complemented both by handheld devices and an array of mPOS (mobile POS) accessories which connect to smartphones and tablets. These latter devices are becoming increasingly disruptive in the payments landscape, in that they make card transactions more available (and, in many cases, more affordable) to smaller merchants.
A new study from Juniper Research, POS & mPOS Terminals: Vendor Strategies, Positioning & Market Forecasts 2017-2022
, found that adoption of contactless transactions in the US would rise sharply over the period, rising from less than 2% of transactions this year to 34% by 2022.
